Members
EurOcean currently has 12 Members organizations based in 10 European countries and also seven Cooperating Members. Each Member organization appoints a representative who sits on the EurOcean Steering Committee. These are listed below.
History
The creation of a European Centre for Information on Marine Science and Technology originated in a joint French - Portuguese initiative aiming to implement the recommendations of the report "Towards a new marine dimension for Europe through research and technological development", adopted on 4th May 2000 by a group of governmental experts from 15 European countries brought together at the invitation of the then Portuguese Minister for Science and Technology.
Team
EurOcean, based in Lisbon, promotes collaboration with its members and supports their activities to maximize synergies through existing and new activities in the field of information for marine science and technology in Europe. The team also actively contributes to European projects and provides services to relevant organizations such as ERVO and OFEG.
