The Sail & Explore Association has established a collaboration with Nautilos project for organising an expedition to explore the occurrence and impact of microplastics in the Cyclades island group.

The knowledge of the occurrence and impact of microplastics in such an ecological and socioeconomically important region is very sparse. This expedition is a collaboration with the Hellenic Centre of Marine Research (HCMR)and aims to collect surface water microplastic samples around the Cyclades for the very first time with a focus on collecting smaller-sized microplastics below 0.3mm.
